Bek. I love it! Especially the first line about clouds caught on high peaks. I like the thought of a cloud snagged as it passes by. You have me inspired to try a haiku now--something that captures a whole scene in only three perfect lines and their images. Great job!
My favorite was the last line--the thirsty roots is a wonderful image, especially paired (dare I say, entwined?) with the snagged clouds. It made me nostalgic.
I had forgotten how much I love haiku. The first line reminds me of the clouds that catch and spill over the Sandia peaks like waterfalls in a rainstorm. Beautiful images. Check out "One Hundred Poems From the Japanese" (Ed. Kenneth Rexroth).
